Cheated and Abused?

James 5:11

New Living Translation (NLT)

We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.

For Meditation

  1. Are you struggling with abuse or unfair treatment, especially from your employer or excessive workload?
  2. Can you have a godly perspective about the situation and respond in that manner to bring glory to Christ as the Lord of your life? When He suffered abuse on earth, did He not cry to Him who alone could deliver Him (Luke 22:44)?
  3. Don’t you know that He’s faithfully attending to your case now (Romans 8:34)? Have you studied His word to apprehend God’s promises concerning your issues? Can’t you see from James 5:1-5 that those who oppress you are rather most pitied? So, can you be patient and endure a little longer for God’s intervention?
  4. Do you remember how James likens your endurance to a farmer who patiently waits for the autumn and spring rains for cropping and a rich harvest (v.7)? Can you recall Job’s perseverance and the blessings God finally showered on him (Job 42:12:15)? Don’t you serve the same God? Wouldn’t He reward your faithfulness as His child?
  5. Can you recall God’s jealousy of His children and how He watches over them with eagle’s eye (Deut. 32:11)? Do you think that He, whose very name is Jealous, and is jealous about his relationship with you, can forget to have compassion and bring you justice? (Exodus 34:14; Isaiah 49:15).

I pray you can wait patiently for God’s intervention in your issues without giving up. God will honor your perseverance and give you His peace to strengthen you for a glorious victory. Focus on Jesus, therefore, as your example and encouragement in suffering, and do not grow weary or lose heart till victory crowns you in His matchless name. Amen.

Shalom
